Get Involved With PEDP

The Public Environmental Data Partners are looking for people who want to use their background and experience to work with us as we tackle projects that address a wide variety of issues related to environmental and climate data and tools. Technical experience is not required. If you have interest, we can find a project that is of interest to you, or you can propose your own projects. Our collaborative community is welcoming, engaging, and very busy building our shared vision for a better future.

Have questions? Contact us and our member coordinator would be happy to try to answer them.

You can get involved by joining PEDP and contribute to our data preservation, tool development, and outreach efforts. PEDP’s strength grows from members who bring experiences from a variety of backgrounds including but not limited to data preservation, climate change resilience, environmental activism, social justice, GIS tools, open source software development, and fundraising.

After filling out our short get involved form, you’ll receive an invite to an upcoming orientation session if you also agree to our working agreements.

You are encouraged to join at least one working group. You can choose from:

  • Data Preservation: Help prioritize and archive datasets, or participate in our datathons or data drops
  • Tool Development: Improve or develop new types of software, tools, and experiences
  • Outreach & Communications: Manage websites, communications, social media, and storytelling

If you belong to an organization that would be a good fit for our coalition, please contact us about joining our external alignments group.

Once you are onboarded onto our communication tools, you’ll be an official member of our coalition.

If you need anything, reach out to our member engagement team who are sure to know how to help you. Be sure to let them know about any projects that are of interest to you and they can connect you to the project lead for that work.

Be sure to read our onboarding materials and attend one of our all hands meetings to get a good sense of all the work that is being done.
